Reports Current status and development potential of woodland and hedgerow products in Wales Wales NTFP report.pdf (898kb)

  • This project undertook a survey of more than 250 SMEs and woodland managers in 2003. The intention was to profile the existing NTFP sector in Wales in order to determine the areas which offer the greatest potential for enterprise development. The results indicate that most ntfp based enterprises are very small scale but can be an important additional income for farmers, smallholders and the rural underemployed. The areas with the greatest potential were identified as being:
  • Moss collection
  • Foliage collection
  • Native tree seed collection
  • Cultivation of native edible mushrooms
